Instituted 12. April 2019 by Queen Margrethe 2nd.
Awarded to personnel within the Ministry of Justice area (police and prison service) who have been seriously wounded in the line of duty, due to an illegal action.
If awarded twice a silver oak leaf device is added to the ribbon.
If awarded three times a gold oak leaf device is added to the ribbon.
The medal may also be awarded to former personnel, who are suffering from PTSD.
