The Medal for Enterprising Icelanders


Instituted February 28th 1829 by King Frederik 6th.
Discontinued in 1873

Awarded to a wide array of persons. Mostly awarded to fishermen, farmers and persons who went in front of others and grew crops in the harsh environment or created new industries.
It was amongst others awarded to a fox hunter who had killed more than 700 foxes. Other information: A total of 63 medals were awarded.
