The Homeguard 25, 40, 50 and 60 Years Service Decoration


Official abbreviation: Hjv.25., Hjv.40., Hjv.50., Hjv.60.

25 Years Medal: Instituted November 25th 1973 by Queen Margrethe 2nd.
40 Years Medal: Instituted September 6th 1988 by Queen Margrethe 2nd.
50 Years Medal: Instituted April 12th 2000 by Queen Margrethe 2nd.
60 Years Medal: Instituted June 12th 2009 by Queen Margrethe 2nd

Awarded to volunteers in the Danish Homeguard for 25, 40, 50 and 60 years of service.

Design: Worn in a green ribbon with edges in two shades of blue. The obverse contains the sign of the Home Guard surrounded by a laurel wreath and the reverse have the text "For 25 års frivillig tjeneste i hjemmeværnet" (English: For 25 years of volunteer service in the home guard). Newer medals are without the number-indication on the reverse. Higher levels of the medal are denoted by the addition of the relevant laurel wreath in either silver or gold on the ribbon.
